Obituary for Diane M. Hering

Diane M. Hering passed away September 21, 2018, at the age of 75 residing at Neshaminy Manor. Diane was predeceased by her husband C. Robert Hering in March 2004.
Diane M. Hering was the first woman elected to public office in Bucks County, PA. She started by serving on the zoning hearing board for Doylestown Township. Then Diane ran and was elected as Doylestown Township Supervisor in November 1975 – serving 13 years. She was also appointed to Director of Public Safety and later became Doylestown Township Manger. Diane served for 13 years and she managed the township for 4 years. In addition, Diane was elected as President of the Pennsylvania Township Supervisors by her peers. She fought hard to preserve open spaces.
Diane was instrumental in the develop of Special Needs Program development in Central Bucks School District. Diane focused on helping others especially those who could not help themselves. After years of service in Bucks County she moved to Ocean City, NJ with her husband Bob. Diane owned and operated the Coral Sands Motel in Ocean City, NJ for 17 years. She moved back to Doylestown in 2003. She enjoyed spending time in town with friends and family at restaurants and at the Doylestown Country Club.
She is survived by her three children, Keith, Colette, and James Hering. Also, survived by two grandchildren Laura Hennessey (Daniel), Jonathan Hering and great grandchild Chase Hennessey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00am on Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Shelly Funeral Home, 1460 Easton Rd., Warrington, where the family will receive friends from 9:30am until the time of service. Internment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society in her memoriam.
